Macron Bids Farewell to PM Modi, Promises Visit to India in February

Paris, June 18: French President Emmanuel Macron warmly bid farewell to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. PM Modi is returning to India after a successful visit to France and Slovakia.

Macron expressed, “Spending these days with you in Nice, Évian, and Paris has meant a lot to me.”

In response, PM Modi remarked, “Now you must fulfill your promise. You need to come to India in February and stay a bit longer.”

President Macron assured, “I promised to come just for you in February. Thank you, take care.” The two leaders then embraced warmly, expressing their gratitude to each other.

Earlier on Thursday, Macron recorded a special farewell video message in Hindi for PM Modi, showcasing the strong friendship between the two leaders.

In Hindi, Macron stated, “Dear friend Narendra, I am very happy that you visited Nice, Évian, and Paris. It was a pleasure to welcome you here. May the friendship between India and France endure.”

He then spoke in English about their friendship, saying, “I hope my Hindi was correct, but my dear Prime Minister, I want to thank you for your friendship. France loves you. I am glad you came here before returning to Delhi. I will come to meet you in India next February, but you are my true friend. We love you. Take care.”

On Sunday, Macron shared a video on social media featuring highlights from PM Modi’s visit, which included a new Bollywood song and went viral.

PM Modi arrived in Nice for an official visit at the invitation of President Macron. After completing his trip to Slovakia, PM Modi attended the G-7 summit in Évian and later participated in the VivaTech conference held in Paris.
