Jaipur, 23 August (Kiran News). Continuous heavy rainfall in Rajasthan has led to worsening conditions across many districts. Alwar, Bundi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, and Dausa are among the districts where normal life has been severely affected. Waterlogging in low-lying areas, the collapse of houses, and damaged bridges have led to multiple incidents. NDRF, SDRF, and the Army are actively involved in relief and rescue operations in the affected regions.

In Ramgarh of Alwar district, a house collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, trapping seven members of a family under the debris. With help from locals and rescue teams, all were rescued, though a child remains in serious condition. In Alwar city, water reached nearly three feet on the main road in front of the bus stand. Water entered homes and shops, causing vehicles to stall. Shopkeepers said that poor drain maintenance has worsened the situation.
In Karauli’s Bugdar village, a 22-year-old youth, Veer Singh Jatav, was swept away while crossing a bridge in strong water flow. Locals and rescue teams are searching for him. In the Sapotra and Amrawad areas, three houses collapsed due to rain. The Kalisil Dam is flowing above the danger mark, and several villages are cut off from the district headquarters due to overflowing rivers. In Hindaun City, waterlogging has affected markets and main areas.
In Bundi district’s Nainwa, 20 inches (502 mm) of rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours. Keshoraipatan saw 310 mm, Raithal 225 mm, Indragarh 181 mm, and Hindoli 164 mm of rain. Due to heavy rain and waterlogging, the RSCIT exam was postponed at six centres in Bundi and one in Kota. Exam authorities said that candidates would be allowed to appear on the next scheduled date.
Many areas of Bundi saw homes and shops submerged. The Army has taken charge on the Dei-Jetpur route. Conditions in Nainwa and Taleda villages are especially severe. In Kota city, Bundi Road near Mahaveer Mission Hospital was completely flooded. Blocked drains led to waterlogging in several colonies. MLA Kalpana Devi toured affected areas by boat.
Heavy rainfall has also disrupted transport. In Devli, Tonk, waterlogging on the Jaipur-Kota highway stopped traffic. In Kota, traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway had to be halted. Several trains were stopped at nearby stations in Bundi as soil washed away from under the railway tracks near Laban.
Rainfall continued in Jaipur on Saturday, with 23 mm recorded by 6 PM. Chomu in Jaipur district saw the highest, with 102 mm (4 inches). Water entered the Chomu police station, and underpasses in Renwal Road and Pachyan Wali Dhani were submerged, halting traffic. At Amer Fort, a wall in Dil Aram Bagh collapsed, damaging two motorcycles. In Subhash Circle, locals rescued a car stuck in a drain.
Due to rapidly rising water levels, six gates of Bisalpur Dam and two of Kota Barrage were opened. Heavy water flow continued from Ratai Dam in Baran. In Shahabad, buffaloes were swept away from the Sirsa river bridge, and many villages are now on high alert.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited flood-affected colonies in Keshoraipatan, Bundi, and instructed officials not to delay relief work. Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham conducted an aerial survey of flooded areas in Sawai Madhopur. Karauli MLA Hansraj Meena appealed to people to stay away from rivers and bridges.
According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, the monsoon, inactive for the past two weeks, has now become active. The monsoon trough has returned to its normal position, and a cyclonic system has stabilised on the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border. As a result, southeastern parts of the state are witnessing continuous heavy rainfall. The weather department has issued a heavy rain warning for Bundi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk districts for the next 24 hours.
