Ahmedabad, July 23: The Gujarat government has initiated a state-wide campaign to reintegrate over 80,000 school dropouts back into classrooms. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced this initiative, aiming for a ‘zero dropout’ rate and ensuring that no child is left behind in the education system.
The campaign, named ‘Samras Vidya Setu,’ was launched from Ahmedabad. During the event, Patel highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the dropout rate in Gujarat has decreased to just two percent. The state has identified more than 80,000 children who had previously left school.
The government’s plan involves re-enrolling these children in classes from 1 to 12 according to their age and providing academic support to help them overcome learning deficiencies.
Patel mentioned that district-wise lists of school dropouts have been prepared across Gujarat. Teachers, local representatives, and community leaders will work together to encourage parents to send their children back to school.
He assured that each child would be placed in an appropriate class based on their age, while special educational support and interim education would be provided for those lagging behind.
Emphasizing the need for collaboration between schools and families, Patel stated that Gujarat has emerged as one of the leading centers for trade and employment in the country. Quality education is essential for youth to seize these opportunities.
He urged parents to ensure regular school attendance and noted that the goal of ‘zero dropout’ can only be achieved through collective efforts from the government, parents, teachers, and society.
Patel also underscored the crucial role of teachers in preventing students from dropping out, emphasizing their responsibility to monitor attendance closely and follow up personally when necessary.
