Kerala PSC Faces Setback as Recruitment Exam is Canceled Due to Question Paper Error

Alappuzha, July 19: The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has encountered another setback amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in its recruitment processes. This latest issue arose when a question paper error forced the cancellation of a statewide recruitment exam at a testing center in Alappuzha.

The canceled exams were for the Last Grade Servants (LGS) and Storeman positions, scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM, with a minimum qualification requirement of SSLC. The PSC cited technical reasons for the cancellation.

The error occurred at the Lajnaath School examination center, where officials mistakenly distributed the afternoon session’s question paper to candidates taking the morning exam. Due to the large number of candidates for various government positions, the exam was divided into two sessions.

Reports indicate that the mistake was discovered only after the morning session concluded, leaving the PSC with no choice but to cancel the afternoon session exam statewide.

The commission has announced that new exam dates will be declared later. This cancellation has caused significant inconvenience to thousands of candidates who had spent months preparing and had already arrived at their respective centers.

Following this incident, there have been calls for a thorough investigation into the significant administrative and security lapses in the conduct of the exam. This embarrassment for the PSC comes at a time when the Crime Branch is investigating allegations related to a controversial recruitment process involving the Kerala State Planning Board.

The controversy began when it was revealed that ten answers were allegedly not evaluated before finalizing the rank list, despite a leader from a leftist organization securing the top position.

Recently, the State Information Commission directed the PSC to submit all documents related to the recruitment process that had been withheld from candidates under the Right to Information Act within seven days. Following this order, the Crime Branch has initiated its investigation.
