Udaipur, 1 September (Kiran News). The Rajasthan government’s ongoing ‘Give-Up’ campaign aims to weed out ineligible beneficiaries from the Food Security Scheme and include those who truly deserve it. While thousands in Udaipur have already volunteered to give up their benefits, 9,568 families have now been identified as ineligible but are still availing the scheme.

Deadline and Legal Warning
According to District Supply Officer Manish Bhatnagar, lists received from the central government have flagged these families based on criteria such as annual income above ₹6 lakh, GST turnover over ₹25 lakh, ownership of four-wheelers, or employment in major companies. If these families do not voluntarily ‘give up’ their entitlement by the campaign deadline of 30 September 2025, the department will initiate legal action against them.
Statewide Impact and Udaipur Status
Since the campaign began on 1 November 2024, about 26.41 lakh people across Rajasthan have surrendered their Food Security Scheme benefits, saving the government ₹409.39 crore annually. In Udaipur, 8,252 applications have resulted in 34,807 individuals giving up their entitlements so far.
Action Against Persistent Ineligibility
Notices have already been issued to 677 ineligible people in Udaipur, and recovery action is underway. Enforcement officers and inspectors have also been directed to conduct surprise checks at ration shops and to serve notices to ineligible beneficiaries. Soon, data from the Transport Department will be used to identify and notify four-wheeler owners benefiting inappropriately from the scheme.
Eligibility Provisions and Application Process
As per the Rajasthan Food Security Rules 2023, Schedule-1, households with an income tax payer, government/semi-government employee, family income above ₹1 lakh, or those owning a four-wheeler (except vehicles used for livelihood such as tractors) are considered ineligible. The final date for voluntary removal from the list is 30 September 2025. Beneficiaries can apply online, through their ration dealer, or directly at the district supply office in Udaipur.
