India Demands Action After Destruction of 125-Year-Old Gurudwara in Pakistan

New Delhi, July 1: India has expressed strong outrage over the reported demolition of a historic 125-year-old Gurudwara in Pakistan. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has called for strict action against those responsible for this incident.

The spokesperson for the Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, condemned the partial destruction of the Gurudwara Sahib located in Farukhabad, Sheikhupura district. He urged the Pakistani government to investigate the matter and take action against the culprits.

Responding to media inquiries, Jaiswal stated, “We have received extremely distressing news about the demolition of the sacred Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib, which has stood for 125 years in Farukhabad, Pakistan. We strongly condemn this heinous and deliberate act of vandalism against this revered Sikh religious site.”

He highlighted that the damage to the Gurudwara and the lack of concrete action from local authorities or the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) is a serious concern.

The Ministry emphasized that this is not an isolated incident. There have been numerous reports of religious minorities and their places of worship being targeted in Pakistan. Ongoing attacks against religious minorities and their sites continue to be a troubling trend.

Jaiswal appealed to the Pakistani government to conduct a swift investigation and take stringent action against those responsible for this disgraceful incident. He also called for the prompt reconstruction and restoration of the damaged parts of the Gurudwara Sahib.

Furthermore, he urged the Pakistani government to fulfill its responsibility of ensuring the safety and respect of its minority communities and their religious sites, while taking concrete steps to eliminate the prevailing atmosphere of religious intolerance and communal violence in the country.
