Iranian Foreign Minister Issues Strong Warning Following Israeli Ministers Controversial Statement

New Delhi, July 1: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has sharply criticized Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz’s recent statements. Araghchi warned that any threats against the Iranian people or leadership would be met with an immediate and forceful response.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Araghchi referred to Katz’s controversial remarks regarding the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Araghchi stated, “The terms of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are clear and publicly accessible. Former U.S. President Donald Trump promised that he would keep his allies in Tel Aviv in check. If they do not heed their leader’s words, Iran will teach them a lesson.”

He emphasized that any threats against our people and leadership would be answered with full strength and immediacy.

According to Araghchi’s shared post, when asked about Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Israeli Minister Katz claimed that his “death” is inevitable. Katz described Iranians as “good traders” trying to gain concessions in negotiations and asserted that Israel would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. He added that if they achieve this through an agreement, it would be even better.

This controversy arises amid ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. Indirect talks have been taking place in Doha, Qatar, facilitated by intermediaries from Qatar and Pakistan.

According to sources from the Xinhua news agency, the discussions are currently indirect, with representatives from both countries not meeting face-to-face. Meetings are being held behind closed doors, with the intermediary countries advancing the dialogue between both sides.

The main issue at hand is the implementation of the MoU signed on June 17 in Islamabad, which includes topics such as Iran’s frozen assets and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
