Formation of Sanatan Board to Ensure Proper Use of Temple Donations and Prevent Thefts: Devkinandan Thakur

New Delhi, July 1: In an exclusive interview, renowned storyteller Devkinandan Thakur addressed various issues, including allegations of donation theft at the Ram Temple, statements from Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Alok Kumar, the formation of the Sanatan Board, and comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Regarding the allegations of donation theft at the Ram Temple, Thakur stated, “I cannot comment much on this issue right now. Everyone knows that if something has happened, an investigation is underway. However, if such an incident did occur, it has hurt the sentiments of the 100 crore Hindus and Sanatan devotees who have faith in Lord Ram.”

VHP President Alok Kumar mentioned that after the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of the Ram Temple, the VHP’s role had ended. Following this, they had no involvement in the temple’s construction or management. In response, Thakur remarked, “Someone asked me about Alok Ji’s statement regarding their lack of involvement after the verdict. He has done significant work for the VHP, Sanatan, and the nation, and he will continue to do so. I agree with his statement.”

Thakur emphasized the need for the establishment of a Sanatan Board. “I have discussed this with members of the Sangh and VHP. Many senior individuals believe that a separate arrangement is necessary. Just as IAS and IPS officers are knowledgeable about the Constitution, should they not also be educated in the Ramayana, Vedas, and scriptures? Religious matters should be left to religious leaders, while the administration and government fulfill their responsibilities. If the Shankaracharyas had been involved with the Ram Temple, we would not be facing allegations of donation theft today.”

He further stated, “I demand the formation of a Sanatan Board, led by the four Shankaracharyas and a fifth Vaishnavacharya. The funds dedicated to God should be utilized for the poor, mothers, sisters, and cow service. Additionally, free hospitals should be established. The wealth of Ram and Krishna should not belong to a single trust but to the entire Sanatan community. The formation of the Sanatan Board is the best option.”

Thakur asserted that the establishment of the Sanatan Board could prevent incidents like the alleged theft at the Ram Temple. “Our scriptures say that if someone destroys religion, religion will destroy them. If a theft has occurred and someone is responsible, what is happening to them is the result of their actions. They are facing disgrace worldwide. If knowledgeable individuals are part of the Sanatan Board, such incidents will not occur in the future. If they do, religious leaders will resolve them.”

Commenting on the resignation of Champat Rai amid the donation controversy and statements from the opposition, Thakur said, “I am neither a government official nor a person in power. I am not saying that we should not discuss what has happened. We need to address how to prevent such issues in the future. I hope our Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah will ensure that decisions are made to protect future generations.”

He concluded by expressing his desire for the Sanatan Board to facilitate modern Gurukuls, hospitals, cow shelters, and services for the poor. “No Prime Minister has undertaken this work since independence. I hope Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah will grant the Sanatan Board the same rights as the Waqf Board. All temples should come under the Sanatan Board. One of the four Shankaracharyas should be appointed as the board’s president to move this initiative forward. This will safeguard India, humanity, and Sanatan.”
