He urged all Iranians, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences, to participate in the funeral. He emphasized the importance of demonstrating Iran’s unity to the world.
According to Iranian broadcaster Press TV, the coffins of five family members of the former Supreme Leader, including Khamenei, his daughter, daughter-in-law, grandson, and son-in-law, will be placed together.
Their funerals will be conducted under a state program. The mourning rituals in Iran are expected to last several days, with a large number of people and delegations from both domestic and international backgrounds anticipated to attend.
India will also be represented at the funeral. The Indian government will send Bihar Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margerita. In light of Khamenei’s funeral, the spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced the temporary halt of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran in Doha. Qatar stated that “positive progress” had been made, leading both parties to agree to continue discussions.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari shared on social media that during the talks, mediators from Qatar and Pakistan held separate meetings with American and Iranian representatives.
He noted that the discussions focused on issues related to the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and were based on the outcomes of the “Lake Lucerne Summit.”
