Beijing, July 2: According to the latest data from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, the country’s bird conservation efforts have seen remarkable success, with the number of endangered bird species steadily increasing. This includes 19 nationally protected bird species, such as the Crested Ibis, Black-billed Gull, and Brown-eared Pheasant, which have either stabilized or increased in number.
In January of this year, a synchronized monitoring of winter waterbirds recorded a total of 6.324 million waterbirds across 167 species. This marks a 158.9% increase from 2.443 million in 2016, reaching a historic high. Additionally, the public’s awareness and enthusiasm for bird conservation are growing daily, with birdwatching activities thriving, reflecting significant progress in China’s ecological conservation efforts.
