Political Tensions Rise Over Owaisis Remarks on Ram Temple Donations

New Delhi, July 1: The political landscape has become increasingly charged following AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi’s controversial statement regarding the Ram Temple donation theft case. Owaisi suggested that if a Muslim were part of the trust, they would face an encounter. His remarks have drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders, including MP Sujit Kumar, MLA Surendra Maithani, and Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad.

In Bhubaneswar, BJP MP Sujit Kumar condemned Owaisi’s comments, questioning the relevance of Hindu-Muslim dynamics in the situation. “I strongly denounce Owaisi’s statement. It is absurd. The BJP and the government have already made it clear that no one involved in this case will be spared. Anyone who has tampered with our faith in Lord Ram will face the law,” he stated.

Kumar added that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to thoroughly investigate the matter. He emphasized that those who commit wrongs in the name of religion will face severe punishment. “Those who previously questioned the existence of Lord Shri Ram and the Ram Temple are now trying to portray themselves as the biggest supporters, showcasing their double standards,” he remarked.

In Kanpur, BJP MLA Surendra Maithani accused Owaisi of engaging in Muslim vote bank politics. “There is no doubt that Owaisi is playing the Muslim appeasement card for the Samajwadi Party and Congress. While the entire Muslim community stands with Owaisi, he should consider the implications of his statements, especially regarding notorious land mafia figures like Atiq Ahmed and Mukhtar Ansari,” he said.

Maithani urged Owaisi to address issues related to zakat and financial disputes in mosques, dargahs, and madrasas. “Why doesn’t he speak about the controversies at Ajmer Sharif Dargah or Haji Ali in Mumbai? He should question why divisions exist in every mosque and dargah, often over money,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad also responded to Owaisi’s remarks, stating that the issue should not be viewed through a Hindu-Muslim lens. “Where does the Muslim question arise? If a Hindu were appointed to the Waqf Board, then perhaps the inclusion of a Muslim would be relevant. We should not raise the Hindu-Muslim issue. Such statements are inappropriate,” he concluded.
