Gonda, August 1: In a significant operation in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh, a joint team of police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) successfully apprehended a wanted suspect following a police encounter.
According to Superintendent of Police Vinayak Jaiswal, the suspect was injured in the encounter when he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The police promptly transported him to the district hospital for treatment. Authorities also recovered a firearm, a cartridge, and a motorcycle from the scene. After receiving initial medical care, the injured suspect was admitted to the hospital.
The arrested individual has been identified as Kamaruddin, also known as Kachna, a resident of Alinagar Lonawa Dargah in the Khargupur police station area. Police stated that he had been wanted for an extended period in connection with a case under the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act.
The Itiyathok police and the SOG were conducting a search and checking operation for suspicious individuals in the area when they received information about the wanted suspect’s presence. When the police attempted to stop him, the suspect opened fire on the police team. In self-defense, the police retaliated, resulting in the suspect being shot in the leg and subsequently falling to the ground. He was then taken into custody.
Police officials revealed that Kamaruddin has multiple serious charges against him, including attempted murder, violations of the Arms Act, and offenses under the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act. His criminal history is currently under investigation, and legal actions are being pursued against him.
This operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Vinayak Jaiswal, with the Itiyathok police and SOG working collaboratively. The police have stated that their campaign against criminals in the district will continue, with strict actions against those undermining law and order.
