Deoria, August 1: In Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested two criminals following an encounter. During the shootout, one suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was hospitalized for treatment. Authorities recovered two illegal firearms and ammunition from the suspects. The police are currently pursuing further legal action in the case.
According to reports, police were conducting a nighttime check in the Khukhundu area of Deoria when two suspicious individuals attempted to flee upon noticing the police. The police team quickly responded, leading to the encounter.
In the ensuing exchange, one criminal was shot and injured, while his accomplice was apprehended at the scene. The suspects have been identified as Kaleem Sheikh and Musafir Shah.
Sunil Kumar Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Deoria (South), stated that during the search, police seized two illegal firearms, two spent cartridges, two live cartridges, two mobile phones, a motorcycle, and a stolen gold necklace from the suspects. The injured suspect has been sent to the hospital for initial treatment.
Earlier, in Maharajganj district, police arrested a smuggler attempting to send goods to Nepal. Acting on precise information from an informant, a police and administrative team, led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the area officer of Nautanwa, conducted a raid at a location in the Bhundi Mohalla of Nautanwa. During the operation, nine bags of fertilizer, bundles of clothing, and a large quantity of hookah-related materials were seized.
The administrative team has confiscated all the recovered items and initiated an investigation regarding the premises. Officials have indicated that stringent legal action is underway against those involved in this case.
