New Delhi, March 8: The second day of the national conference ‘Bharati: Nari Se Narayani’ took place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, coinciding with International Women’s Day. President Droupadi Murmu attended as the chief guest and addressed the gathering.
President Murmu emphasized that the ideals of women from Vedic times, such as Brahmavadini, to modern figures like Rani Durgavati, Veermata Jijabai, Rani Chennamma, Lakshmibai, Jhalkari Bai, and Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, serve as inspirations for society, particularly for women.
She stated that the dimensions of service, dedication, nationalism, bravery, patience, and talent place women’s strength on par with or even above that of men.
Women are contributing across various fields, from agriculture to space, and our daughters have set new benchmarks in sports on a global scale.
President Murmu asserted that the progress of human society will only advance when both wheels of the chariot—women and men—are fully equal and coordinated.
For our country to progress rapidly and utilize the full potential of its citizens for national interest, it is essential to encourage our daughters to dream big and support them at every step to realize those dreams. Despite numerous efforts toward women’s empowerment, several obstacles still hinder their development.
She extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all citizens on International Women’s Day, highlighting that this occasion is not only to honor women’s achievements but also to commit to their empowerment.
President Murmu expressed her delight in announcing the inauguration of a special library at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja during Vasant Panchami. This library will house manuscripts in India’s classical languages, and the doors of Rashtrapati Bhavan are open to everyone. She urged everyone to remember the inspirations associated with women’s strength.
The conference featured women scholars, educators, and social leaders from across the country sharing their insights on the Indian perspective of women’s empowerment. The two-day event focused on key themes such as knowledge, power, consciousness, and culture, organized jointly by the Indian Council of Scholars, Rashtriya Sevika Samiti, and Sharnanya.
