Chandigarh, April 10: Women lawyers from the Punjab and Haryana High Court have expressed their support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. Lawyer Meenakshi Chaudhary stated that women have been waiting for this legislation for the past three decades. She mentioned that while they might age waiting for it, the benefits for future generations are commendable.
Regarding a letter from Prime Minister Modi addressed to women, Chaudhary noted that women are advancing in every field. However, opportunities in politics remain scarce. She pointed out that leaders often promote women from their own families, leaving ordinary women without representation in political parties.
Lawyer Kirandeep Kaur emphasized the importance of reservation for women. She acknowledged that while opportunities exist, women often hold back, believing men can perform better. She believes that if women receive reservations, it will encourage them to step forward and seize opportunities.
Lawyer Rinki K. Singhania praised the government’s initiative to provide reservations for women. She highlighted that often, women’s names are associated with roles, but others carry out the work. She stressed the need for change, asserting that if women are given reservations, they should also be allowed to lead. When women have been given opportunities, they have consistently proven their capabilities across various fields.
