New Delhi, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Tensions escalated in New Delhi following an incident involving Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma, who allegedly slapped a man named Sahib Singh during a public works inspection in Tilak Nagar. Verma defended his actions, claiming he was provoked by derogatory remarks about his parents.
In response, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Jarnail Singh announced plans to release a video documenting the entire incident. He stated, “I will soon publish a video that captures everything from my arrival to Verma’s aggressive behavior and his subsequent departure. If I uttered a single word about his family in that video, I invite the police to take legal action against me. If it is proven that Verma acted violently, slapped me, and issued threats, he should face consequences.”
Singh explained that he had been posting videos over the past few days highlighting the poor quality of the road, which he claimed was constructed without adhering to regulations. Upon inspecting the road after its completion, he found the surface crumbling.
He also mentioned tagging Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in these videos, which gained significant traction online. Singh accused the BJP’s IT cell of removing some of his posts.
On Sunday around 1:15 PM, Singh received a call from Verma, who invited him to inspect the road’s condition. Singh arrived shortly after, only to find a group of BJP workers ready to document the encounter. He alleged that Verma confronted him, accusing him of misleading the public and tarnishing the government’s reputation.
As Singh demonstrated the road’s defects, he claimed the cameras of the BJP workers turned off. In a fit of rage, Verma allegedly slapped Sahib Singh, threw his phone, kicked him, and threatened his life.
Singh questioned how a minister could behave so insensitively and impatiently. He insisted that the entire incident was captured on camera, visible to the public.
“We were detained late into the night, demanding an FIR despite the clear evidence of the crime,” Singh said. “It’s troubling that even with everything on camera and the local SHO present, there has been no action taken. This has become a common occurrence where the guilty go unpunished while innocents face repercussions.”
Singh also criticized the police for their inaction, stating that he and his colleagues spent hours at the police station trying to file a complaint. When they attempted to go to the DCP office, they were detained and released around 1:30 AM. As of now, no FIR has been filed regarding the incident.
He emphasized that this struggle extends beyond a single road issue; it’s a fight against corruption within the BJP. “This is about exposing their scams, vote theft, and the rampant corruption that has plagued our system. People are tired of the BJP, and we will not be intimidated,” he declared.
