New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Minister Ashish Sood and BJP MLA Abhay Verma have responded sharply to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent comments regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their statements, they emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance women’s safety in the capital.
Sood criticized Kejriwal’s choice of words, labeling them not just accusatory but also disrespectful. He reminded Kejriwal of his previous constitutional role as Chief Minister and suggested that such language reflects a chaotic mindset.
The minister further commented on Kejriwal’s current political standing, suggesting that the Chief Minister appears to be searching for relevance amid opposition parties. This quest for attention, according to Sood, has led Kejriwal to make trivial and inappropriate remarks. He even linked some of Kejriwal’s statements to ‘urban naxalism.’
Addressing concerns about women’s safety raised by Kejriwal, Sood acknowledged the issue as critical and sensitive. He noted that the government is identifying ‘dark spots’ in Delhi where lighting is inadequate, as well as areas with poor mobile network connectivity. He highlighted that sudden loss of mobile service in these locations can create anxiety, especially for women. Sood also mentioned plans to increase the deployment of female police officers in police stations as part of broader reforms.
Additionally, Sood alleged that the previous administration mishandled the installation of CCTV cameras intended for women’s safety, claiming there were significant flaws in their implementation. He assured that the current government is actively working to rectify these deficiencies.
BJP MLA Abhay Verma also expressed his discontent with Kejriwal’s remarks about PM Modi, stating that as a former constitutional officeholder, Kejriwal should refrain from using such language. He criticized the Chief Minister for employing “deplorable terms” and making personal attacks against the Prime Minister. Verma asserted that such behavior is unbecoming of a former Chief Minister.
He concluded by stating that while the BJP does not support any wrongdoing, Kejriwal’s attempts to drag the Prime Minister into his statements and tarnish his name deserve condemnation. Verma emphasized that the public is observant and will respond to such conduct.
