Youth Demands Resignation of Delhi Minister After Alleged Assault During Road Inspection

A youth in New Delhi calls for the resignation of Minister Pravesh Verma after an alleged assault during a road inspection.

New Delhi, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : A young man named Sahib Singh has called for the resignation of Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma following an alleged incident of assault during a public works inspection in Tilak Nagar. Singh claims that while he was inspecting a poorly constructed road, Verma struck him without provocation.

Singh insists that he did not use any offensive language towards the minister. He stated, “I was live on Instagram on the page of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jarnail Singh when I picked up a piece of the road. As I directed the camera towards the minister, he snatched my phone away.” Singh asserts he has video evidence of the incident and challenges anyone to prove he used inappropriate language.

During the inspection, Singh attempted to highlight the poor quality of the road, which he described as being made of inferior material. “The road was crumbling and could be easily broken with a hand,” he explained. He alleges that Verma became agitated upon seeing the evidence of the road’s deterioration and reacted violently.

Following the incident, Singh reported that he and others were detained, taken to a location far from the scene, and held for several hours before being released. He expressed his frustration, stating, “The minister should not hide behind police and security. He needs to face the public.”

Singh is adamant that Verma has no right to remain in office after such behavior. He stated, “He should resign. He is not fit to be a minister. An FIR should at least be filed against him. If I or anyone else had done something similar, there would have been severe consequences.”

He has received political support in his call for action. Singh noted, “Support is coming in. Arvind Kejriwal is backing us, and Rahul Gandhi has also addressed the issue on social media, stressing that this is a national concern. A sitting minister cannot assault a young person in public.”

The situation continues to unfold as Singh seeks accountability from the minister and demands justice for the alleged assault.
