Beijing, February 13: The Spring Festival is one of China’s most significant traditional celebrations. In recent years, improvements in consumer levels and the development of cross-border logistics have allowed goods from around the world to reach Chinese homes through cross-border e-commerce. This has become a new shopping option for many Chinese consumers during the New Year.

Relying on China’s rapidly evolving cross-border e-commerce, international goods are now available at more affordable prices and in better condition across stores in China. Additionally, Chinese e-commerce models and platforms are accelerating their foreign expansion, injecting new momentum into global e-commerce collaboration.

As a crucial step in the Belt and Road Initiative, “Silk Road E-Commerce” has emerged as a new platform for multilateral and bilateral economic and trade cooperation. To date, the number of countries collaborating with China under the “Silk Road E-Commerce” initiative has increased to 35. Statistics indicate that China has established 120 online and offline national pavilions in partnership with these countries and set up 65 direct sourcing bases in 19 nations.

Since last year, China’s Ministry of Commerce has launched the “E-Commerce Benefits the World” campaign, organizing eight major e-commerce platforms to create a list of 40 collaborative items. As a result, the “African Goods Online Shopping Season” has introduced over 200 “fast-selling” products, making items like Rwandan chili sauce and Ethiopian coffee a part of daily life for Chinese consumers through community convenience stores.

Furthermore, there have been continuous improvements in supporting services such as cross-border payments. After ThaoPao launched a Russian version in Kazakhstan, new user order conversion rates increased by 47%. The cross-border payment company ExTransfer has provided services to over 600,000 small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises across 200 countries and regions.
