
Kuwait City, June 20: The world will celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21. Various yoga-related events are scheduled across the globe. Ahead of the 12th International Yoga Day, several Indian diplomatic missions organized yoga sessions on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of health, wellness, and inner harmony.
This year’s International Yoga Day will take place on Sunday, with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” focusing on yoga’s contributions to health, activity, and happiness across generations.
On this occasion, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait hosted a yoga session at the Boulevard Cricket Stadium. This event is part of a three-day yoga program that began on June 19.
According to the Indian Embassy, over 2,200 participants, including diplomats, government officials, community leaders, students, and yoga enthusiasts from across Kuwait, attended the session.
Notable attendees included Padma Shri awardee and Chairperson of the Kuwait Yoga Committee, Sheikha Shaikha Al Sabah, and Padma Shri awardee Nauf Marwai, founder of the Arab Yoga Foundation in Saudi Arabia and President of the Asian Yoga Sports Federation.
Before the 12th International Yoga Day, the Indian Embassy in Finland, in collaboration with the Finnish-Indian Society Suomi-India Seura, organized a midnight yoga session in Rovaniemi, Finland, located within the Arctic Circle.
The Indian Embassy in Finland posted on X, stating, “Celebrated under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging,’ this event brought participants together to celebrate the enduring benefits of yoga against the backdrop of a unique sunset in the Arctic.”
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the Na Heal organization partnered with the Indian Embassy to conduct a yoga session in Manila with the Department of Budget and Management.
The Indian Embassy in the Philippines shared on X, “Participants engaged enthusiastically in the session. This was another positive step towards strengthening connections among people, in line with the shared vision led by India and the Philippines.”
Ahead of the upcoming yoga celebrations, the Indian High Commission and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Suva organized a yoga session at the Fiji Museum.
The Indian High Commission in Suva posted on X, “This session emphasized the importance of a balanced lifestyle, mental health, and peace of mind through yoga. Yoga is not just a practice; it is a way to live a healthy and harmonious life.”
Before the 12th International Yoga Day, the Indian Embassy in Bogotá hosted a special yoga session for professionals working at the Cueser Building in Colombia.
In the United States, yoga sessions were held in several cities, including Seattle and New York, highlighting the ongoing need for yoga and its contributions to overall health.
Sharing highlights of the celebrations, the Indian Consulate in Seattle posted on X, “Seattle is gearing up for the 12th International Yoga Day! As we approach June 21, yoga sessions are being held at iconic locations from the Space Needle to the Pacific Science Center and Seattle Waterfront!”
In New York, the Indian Consulate collaborated with Bronx Community College to organize a yoga program for students in celebration of the upcoming International Yoga Day.
