
New Delhi, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 23rd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from Tarakeshwar in Hooghly district, West Bengal, on Saturday. This initiative will facilitate direct transfers of funds into the bank accounts of eligible farmers across the country.
In Gujarat, over 5.1 million farmers will benefit from the PM Kisan scheme, receiving more than ₹1,025 crore directly in their bank accounts.
According to government sources, this installment will see over ₹18,880 crore disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to more than 9.44 crore farmers nationwide.
To mark the implementation of this scheme in the state, a state-level “PM Kisan Utsav Day” will be celebrated at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and State Minister Ramesh Katara will also be present. This event is part of the efforts to implement the central scheme in Gujarat.
During the national program, the Prime Minister will virtually interact with farmers across the country and address beneficiaries during the event in West Bengal.
Since the inception of the PM Kisan scheme, 22 installments have been released, benefiting over 11 crore farmers with a total assistance exceeding ₹4.28 lakh crore, according to official data.
The program will be broadcast live at agricultural science centers, market yards, farmer producer organizations, PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, and primary agricultural credit societies. Additionally, events will be organized at district, taluka, and village levels to facilitate viewing of the Prime Minister’s address.
Ahead of his two-day visit to West Bengal starting Saturday, PM Modi shared details of his trip on social media in Bengali on Friday. He mentioned his participation in several events on June 20 and 21, with June 20 being particularly significant as it marks West Bengal Day.
In his post, PM Modi stated that the 23rd installment of the PM Kisan scheme will be launched from Tarakeshwar, benefiting farmers across India. He also highlighted the launch of major central government schemes related to agriculture, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the National Mission on Natural Farming, and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhan Yojana. He emphasized that these initiatives will benefit the hardworking farmers of West Bengal. Furthermore, he noted that on June 21, he will participate in an event in Kolkata to commemorate International Yoga Day.
