Hyderabad, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : A Hyderabad court has ruled against the police’s request for remand of BRS leader Mannu Krishna K, following his dramatic arrest at home. The decision came swiftly after police forcibly entered his residence, breaking down doors to apprehend him.
The Namapally Court rejected the police’s plea for remand, stating it was mindful of Supreme Court guidelines. Krishna K, who serves as the social media convener for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), was arrested in connection with a social media post that addressed an incident involving an attack on K.T. Rama Rao’s aide at the Saifabad police station on September 14.
In the hours leading up to the court’s decision, police had gathered in large numbers outside Krishna K’s home. He had reportedly barricaded himself inside, prompting multiple appeals from officers for him to come out. When he refused, police broke a lock on an iron grill and entered the house to make the arrest.
Krishna K questioned the police’s heavy-handed approach, asking why they needed to deploy 100 officers simply because he tweeted a question about who entered the police station wearing a mask. He expressed his frustration over the incident, noting that his seven-year-old child was unable to attend an exam due to the police raid, leaving the child frightened and at home.
He stated, “Is this happening because I raised questions about the Congress party’s corruption and failures? They have filed numerous illegal cases against me and jailed me twice. No matter how many unlawful cases they bring or how much they try to intimidate me, I will not stop asking questions.”
K.T. Rama Rao condemned the manner of Krishna K’s arrest, questioning whether criticizing the government had become a crime. In a post on social media platform X, he criticized the Telangana government for its actions, highlighting the distress caused to Krishna K’s family during the police operation.
Rama Rao’s post emphasized the contradiction between the ideals of free speech espoused by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the actions of the Telangana government, which he accused of undermining democratic principles. He called for accountability, asking if it was a crime to question the ruling government.
Tensions remain high in Telangana as the political landscape continues to evolve, with many citizens and opposition leaders demanding answers from the government.
