Reykjavik, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Embassy in Reykjavik organized the ‘Developed India Run 2026′ on Saturday, bringing together members of the Indian community living in Iceland. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and Legislative Council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon.
According to the embassy, the ‘Developed India Run’ aims to promote fitness, unity, community spirit, and civic engagement as part of India’s journey towards its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The run symbolizes the spirit of Seva Pakhwada, which will continue until October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, highlighting the contributions of every citizen towards social service, collective responsibility, and nation-building.
Both leaders also planted a sapling in the embassy premises under the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative. The embassy shared on the social media platform X that the planting was part of a broader effort to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Additionally, the embassy launched the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign on Thursday, running from September 17 to October 2. Ambassador R. Ravindra commenced the campaign at the embassy, leading officials in a cleanliness pledge and participating in community service for the cause.
Despite the distance and differences in population size, India and Iceland have established a friendship based on shared values and mutual interests.
