Shillong, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, expressed confidence that Meghalaya will see a significant increase in foreign tourists in the coming years. He emphasized the state’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and untapped tourism potential.
Describing Meghalaya as one of the most beautiful places in the world, Margherita noted that this northeastern state offers much more than its stunning hills and lush landscapes. He highlighted the region’s rich biodiversity, diverse flora and fauna, scenic views, traditional lifestyles, arts, culture, and local textiles, which together make it a unique tourism destination.
Margherita stressed the need to promote these features more effectively on international platforms to attract tourists from around the globe, allowing them to experience the state’s natural and cultural heritage up close.
According to the minister, Meghalaya has the potential to become a major international tourism destination if its unique attributes are showcased and promoted strategically. He mentioned that the central government is actively working on multiple levels to enhance tourism in Meghalaya and the entire northeastern region.
