Kiren Rijiju Critiques Rahul Gandhi, Calls Congress a Bhasmasur Party
Kiren Rijiju responds to Rahul Gandhis comments, labeling Congress as a Bhasmasur party that destroys its allies.

New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, recently responded to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during a media briefing in New Delhi. He criticized the Congress party, describing it as a “Bhasmasur,” a mythological figure known for self-destruction. Rijiju emphasized that Congress is a party built on fragmentation and should not point fingers at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Rijiju asserted that both Congress and Rahul Gandhi are projecting accusations onto the BJP that are more applicable to themselves. He stated that the Congress party has a history of disbanding its allies and that its own existence is a result of internal strife. He pointed out that the Trinamool Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) both originated from Congress, highlighting the irony in their criticisms.
Recalling historical events, Rijiju mentioned how Congress absorbed Ashok Mehta into its ranks by appointing him as the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission in 1963. He also referenced Professor N.G. Ranga, who left Congress in 1959 to form a socialist group, and the Congress party’s attempts to undermine various regional parties over the years.
Rijiju remarked on the tactics employed by Congress, such as the imposition of President’s Rule in states and the manipulation of political alliances, to maintain power. He suggested that Rahul Gandhi should consult leaders like Mamata Banerjee and Sharad Pawar about their experiences with Congress.
He defended the BJP’s integrity, stating that it has grown into the world’s largest political party under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership without resorting to underhanded tactics. Rijiju concluded that Gandhi’s accusations are more reflective of Congress’s own practices than of the BJP’s operations.
