New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : A recent event in New Delhi focused on India-Nepal relations, featuring Nepal’s Finance Minister, Dr. Swarnim Wagle. During the discussions, Prof. Sachin Kumar Sharma, Director General of the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), emphasized India’s crucial role as a primary supporter for Nepal in times of natural disasters.
Prof. Sharma stated, “We were fortunate to have the Finance Minister of Nepal present at our event on emerging India-Nepal relations. He highlighted that India is the first and largest aid provider when natural disasters strike.”
The discussions not only addressed recent natural disasters impacting Nepal but also explored issues surrounding trade connectivity and cultural ties between the two nations. Two key sessions were held: one focused on strengthening bilateral trade and the other on enhancing the voice of the Global South.
Prof. Sharma praised Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit, describing it as remarkable and impactful, reflecting India’s development narrative. He noted, “Connecting this to India-Nepal relations, Prime Minister Modi has emphasized the need for learning from each other as countries of the Global South.”
He further explained that while both nations face similar challenges, they also have solutions to share. The core message from the Prime Minister is about how they can learn from one another and address these solutions together.
