Indore, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has responded sharply to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi‘s recent criticisms regarding the state’s education and employment systems. This exchange followed Gandhi’s address at the “Students’ Echo” event in Indore, where he raised concerns about various issues, including unemployment, recruitment delays, and alleged discrepancies in examinations.
During his speech, Gandhi emphasized the need for a system that empowers youth to ask questions and actively participate in governance. He pointed out problems related to paper leaks and the slow pace of recruitment processes, suggesting that these issues have caused significant distress among students.
In response, Chief Minister Yadav argued that discussions about students and their future should be grounded in facts and data, rather than accusations that could lead to confusion. He described the “Students’ Echo” event as an attempt to spread misinformation rather than a constructive dialogue.
Yadav highlighted the substantial progress Madhya Pradesh has made in education. He noted that the state’s budget for school education has increased dramatically from approximately ₹2,000 crore in 2002-03 to ₹38,658 crore today. Various initiatives, including the Sandipani schools, aim to reduce the dropout rate to zero.
He also shared that the dropout rate, which stood at around 16 percent in 2002-03, has seen significant improvements. The Chief Minister provided statistics on the expansion of medical education in the state, stating that the number of medical colleges has risen from five to 33 since 1956, with available seats increasing from 680 to over 7,000.
Regarding employment, Yadav mentioned ongoing recruitment processes for approximately 18,000 positions in the police department and that 10,000 youths have already been trained and inducted into service. He added that the school education department is also in the process of hiring 10,000 new staff members.
The Chief Minister urged Gandhi to engage with the people of Madhya Pradesh based on factual evidence of the state’s development, rather than relying on rhetoric. He concluded by citing improvements in per capita income and electricity production capacity, claiming that these figures illustrate Madhya Pradesh’s advancements in education, employment, and energy sectors.
