Quetta, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Violence against civilians in Balochistan is escalating, with major human rights organizations shedding light on recent incidents involving the Pakistani military. On September 17, a 47-year-old farmer named Alam Khan was killed by a death squad supported by the state in Khuzdar district.
According to the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Alam Khan and his friend were returning from a wedding when they were fired upon by the assailants. While Alam Khan died at the scene, his companion, Barkat Azeem, sustained serious injuries.
The Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation for the Baloch people. They stated, “It is becoming impossible for Baloch individuals to feel safe. A wedding, a road, or even one’s own home should not be a target for violence. No community should be forced to live in fear. The ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances, targeted killings, and fake encounters represents a severe human rights crisis that must not be normalized.”
The BYC has called on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to urgently address the grave situation in Balochistan.
In another incident, the human rights department of the BNM condemned the abduction of three young men by Pakistani forces. On the evening of September 17, troops raided a house in the Rekko village of Kech district, forcibly disappearing two cousins, Safar Baloch and Abdul Razeq, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Additionally, a 20-year-old student, Kifayat Baloch, was abducted by Pakistani forces outside Balochistan University in Quetta on September 15. The BNM reported that his location is still unaccounted for and he has been denied access to his family, lawyer, and legal processes.
The BNM emphasized that the enforced disappearance of a student is a blatant violation of fundamental human rights, exposing him to severe risks of torture and abuse.
Amid rising violence, eight bullet-ridden bodies were discovered in separate incidents in Punjgur and Gwadar districts on Friday. Local residents alerted authorities after finding the bodies, with police confirming that five were found in the Gwarago area of Punjgur, while three others were recovered from Kuldan in the Jiwani sub-district of Gwadar. The deceased have been identified, and their bodies will be returned to their families following legal procedures.
