Ahmedabad, July 29: The Lok Sabha passed the ‘Anti-Paper Leak Bill 2026′ by voice vote on Wednesday. During the discussion, Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the police action during student protests on July 20. Responding to Rahul’s claims, BJP leader Rohan Gupta stated that allegations should be backed by facts and evidence. He sarcastically remarked that Congress has turned Parliament into a political arena.
Gupta emphasized that Parliament is the temple of democracy. He insisted that accusations should not be made without evidence. Rahul Gandhi has made very serious allegations, and such statements should not be made in Parliament. Before making grave accusations, one should present facts and evidence.
He further stated that Congress has made it a habit to disrupt Parliament. In a democracy, Parliament operates under rules. Facts should precede allegations. Congress has made it their sole task to stall parliamentary proceedings. The public is watching how Congress has misused the session meant for student issues.
In response to Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding the ‘Sangh’, Gupta pointed out that the party that ruled the country for the longest time after independence is now complaining about the system. He questioned Congress on why, after so many years in power, they failed to enact a law to prevent paper leaks. A bill was introduced in 2010 but was never passed due to a lack of political will. He criticized Congress for not creating laws during their tenure and questioned their right to raise concerns now. Gupta held Congress responsible for the mafia-like system.
He noted that for the first time in 12 years, the Modi government is introducing the Anti-Paper Leak Law in 2024. The government is forming a high-powered committee, but Congress has been avoiding discussions. The public will not forgive Congress. They need to engage in self-reflection. The government is committed to doing whatever is necessary for the future of students. Ensuring the safety and future of students is our top priority. We will not compromise on the dreams of the youth, and the Modi government remains steadfast on this issue.
Regarding paper leak cases in other states, Gupta stated that double standards cannot exist. Similar cases have emerged in Punjab, Karnataka, Telangana, and Jharkhand. Why should there be a different standard for those states? Those demanding resignations and moral accountability are silent on the issues in those states. This is pure politics and hypocrisy.
