Kolkata, August 28: Suspended TMC leader Reju Dutta criticized Mamata Banerjee regarding the upcoming student rally. He expressed appreciation for Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s “Vande Mataram” program, stating that the work Banerjee failed to accomplish is being carried out by Adhikari.
In an interview with a news agency, Dutta mentioned that a complaint has been lodged against Abhishek Banerjee’s office at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). He asserted that the corporation is fulfilling its duties. If Abhishek Banerjee believes he is running the state government, he is mistaken. With a complaint filed, an investigation will ensue. If he has done nothing wrong, there is no reason to fear; the law will take its course.
Tensions escalated between TMC General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee and the Kolkata police on Thursday when a team of municipal officials arrived at his office on Camac Street to remove hoardings.
Regarding the student rally, Dutta stated that the turnout will be known on the day of the event. He criticized Banerjee for disbanding the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, claiming she prevented elections during her tenure. He alleged that student leaders were turned into promoters and extortionists. Dutta claimed that while Banerjee’s events feature student leaders who are promoters, builders, and fathers of several children, the youth remain aligned with his cause.
On CM Suvendu Adhikari’s “Vande Mataram” program, Dutta expressed his gratitude, stating that the initiatives being taken are what the previous government failed to achieve. He acknowledged that Jadavpur University is renowned for its quality education, but emphasized that this does not mean that Maoists should be granted complete freedom. He condemned any slogans demanding independence for Kashmir within the university premises.
