Youth Thought: The Driving Force Behind Our Democracys Future, Says Vijender Gupta

New Delhi, August 28: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized on Thursday that the thread of Rakhi symbolizes not just safety, but also a strong commitment to building a responsible and aware India for future generations.

During a ceremony in the assembly, students tied Rakhis on the Speaker’s wrist, and he welcomed their enthusiasm, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Gupta encouraged students to excel in their studies and to advance with high moral values. He shared on the social media platform X, “On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, students from various schools made this festival memorable by tying Rakhi and showering me with their affection and good wishes. This heartfelt moment spent with children will always be cherished. I wish all sisters happiness, a bright future, and success. Happy Raksha Bandhan!”

In another post, he stated that youth thought is the greatest force shaping the future of our democracy. He had an enlightening discussion with students from Miranda House, Satyawati College, and Laxmibai College, who visited the Delhi Assembly under the ‘Youth Outreach Initiative.’ Their curiosity and enthusiasm highlighted their keen interest in understanding their roles as responsible citizens within democratic institutions.

Students were informed about the role of the Delhi Assembly in democratic governance. The program provided detailed insights into legislative processes, including how laws are made, debated, and passed. An engaging short film was also screened during this educational session.

Additionally, students received a memorable coffee table book titled ‘A Century Journey,’ documenting a century of legislative history. Following this, they were given a guided tour of the Assembly House chamber to observe the workings of local governance.

Speaker Vijender Gupta remarked that the vibrancy of a democratic society relies on informed, aware, and active youth. By witnessing democratic institutions in action, young citizens can channel their natural curiosity and energy into meaningful civic engagement, accountability, and public service.
