Chinas GDP Growth Reaches 4.7% in First Half of 2026

Beijing, August 28: The 24th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China is taking place from August 25 to 28 in Beijing. During this conference, reports on the implementation of the national economic and social development plan for this year were presented.

The report indicates that China’s economic operations have been consistently stable this year. In the first half of the year, GDP increased by 4.7% compared to the same period last year. This growth reached 36 trillion yuan, marking the highest increase for this period in the last five years.

Wang Changlin, Deputy Head of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that based on current economic and social development data, as well as information from various sectors, the implementation of the development plan is progressing well. Indicators such as economic growth, employment, commodity prices, and import-export activities are in line with forecasts. There has also been a notable increase in market consumption and residents’ income.
