Patna, August 28: Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar expressed their sorrow and concern on Thursday regarding the devastating floods in Nepal. They also warned about the potential impact on Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representing Saran, mourned the loss of life and property in Nepal. He emphasized that accurately predicting natural events like cloudbursts remains a challenge.
He called for more discussions and better preparations to effectively tackle such disasters.
Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal described the situation extending from Nepal to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as a natural disaster. He urged prayers for minimal loss of life and property in the affected areas, stressing the need for collective action to face this crisis.
Upendra Kushwaha, National President of the Rashtriya Lok Manch (RLM) and Rajya Sabha MP, also expressed concern over the devastation in Nepal. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and voiced worries about reports of missing Indians.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi made a political statement regarding the causes of the disaster. He accused China of being responsible for the floods in Nepal, arguing that it could have controlled or blocked water flow in Tibet if it had wanted to.
Manjhi questioned why, despite its control over Tibet, China did not take adequate measures to prevent water accumulation. He stated that if water had been managed, the situation in Nepal would not have been so severe, and Bihar would not face such potential threats.
He acknowledged the destruction in Nepal, including deaths and damage to homes and property, and noted that the water flowing from Nepal could pose a flood risk in some parts of Bihar.
However, he reassured that the situation in Bihar is not as dire as initially feared and expressed confidence in the state government’s preparations.
Manjhi stated that the administration is vigilant and is making arrangements for relief and rescue in case of any potential emergencies.
