New Delhi, July 29: The Lok Sabha passed the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 by voice vote on Wednesday. Following extensive discussions, the proceedings of the House were adjourned until 11 AM on Thursday.
During the debate, Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched a sharp attack on the opposition, particularly targeting the behavior of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He criticized the opposition for politicizing such an important bill instead of offering constructive suggestions.
Singh stated, “The conduct of the opposition is extremely disappointing. Instead of contributing meaningful suggestions on this serious and significant bill, they are engaging in politics. The language used by the opposition leader was not only unparliamentary but so inappropriate that I would not want to repeat it. Anyone who considers themselves educated and familiar with parliamentary traditions should know that such language cannot be used within the House.”
He further expressed that it was unfortunate for the opposition leader to refer to the youth of the country as “fools.” He remarked, “What could be more unfortunate than calling the youth, who are the future of this country, ‘fools’? I wonder if they are even aware of the basic rules and decorum of parliamentary proceedings.”
The Union Minister also referenced an incident from July 21, making a jab at the opposition leader. He said, “On July 21, the opposition leader seemed to have a specific intention when he sat outside the Prime Minister‘s residence at 7 LKM. It appeared as though he deeply wished for the country to elect him and seat him at 7 LKM. When that wish was not fulfilled, he sat at the gate in disappointment. When he was politely informed that such behavior was not befitting his position, he requested to be removed from there.”
In response to another issue raised in the House, Jitendra Singh clarified that there was no gunfire during the mentioned incident; only tear gas was used.
He emphasized, “It has been repeatedly clarified that no shots were fired. If no shots were fired, then the question of issuing orders to fire does not arise. Such authority does not lie with the minister but with the magistrate.”
