Beijing, September 2: A cultural exchange program was held in Cairo on September 1, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. This event coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Egypt.
The program was jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and Egypt’s Ministry of State for Information.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi sent a congratulatory message for the occasion. Over 100 guests from various sectors, including politics, economy, culture, and media, attended the event.
During the program, CMG Director General Shen Haixiong delivered a speech highlighting President Xi’s published article in Egyptian media. He stated that China aims to support Egypt on the path to prosperity and revival, fostering a brighter future for national development and bilateral relations.
Shen emphasized that this cultural exchange program is a concrete step to implement the leaders’ consensus and deepen China-Egypt friendship. Both nations, rich in ancient civilizations, recognize the media’s role in bridging cultural exchanges, enhancing contact, friendship, and mutual trust among their peoples.
CMG has established practical cooperation with various sectors in Egypt to ensure the blossoming of friendship between the two countries.
During the event, CMG and Egyptian National Television announced a co-production of a documentary titled “Rapid Progress of China-Egypt Cooperation.” Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation was exchanged between CMG and the Cairo International Film Festival to deepen collaboration. Chinese film screenings in Egypt also commenced as part of this initiative.
