Bishkek, September 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Bishkek, where he took a group photo with leaders from various countries. During the summit, he engaged in significant discussions and meetings related to the regional organization.
Upon arriving at the summit venue, Prime Minister Modi received a warm welcome. His arrival coincided with a meeting he had the previous day with Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov, where both leaders reviewed the progress in India-Kyrgyzstan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
This meeting with President Japarov was one of the key bilateral discussions during Modi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan. It is believed that this dialogue will enhance cooperation across various sectors between the two countries.
On Sunday, upon arriving in Kyrgyzstan for the SCO summit, the Indian community in Bishkek gave a rousing welcome to Prime Minister Modi. He expressed his gratitude on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “The special welcome from the Indian community today evening from India to Bishkek was truly memorable.”
The Indian community welcomed him with slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. On this occasion, Kyrgyz artists presented cultural performances, which Prime Minister Modi appreciated. A group of yoga enthusiasts also showcased yoga during the welcome event.
At Bishkek’s Manas International Airport, Prime Minister Modi was greeted by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adilbek Kasymaliev. After his arrival, Modi expressed his gratitude on ‘X’ for the warm welcome he received from Kasymaliev.
During his visit, he plans to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from various countries, participate in the SCO summit, and engage in several important events.
Before departing for a two-nation trip to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi stated that India has been an active and constructive member of the SCO since 2017. He expressed enthusiasm about advancing India’s regional vision based on ‘security, connectivity, and opportunity’ and working with SCO member countries to create a region free from terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
Modi’s participation comes at a time when India is continuously strengthening its ties with Central Asian countries and emphasizing regional cooperation through the SCO platform.
