New Delhi, September 2: Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo on Wednesday for a state visit at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. During this meeting, both leaders will engage in in-depth discussions regarding the future of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
China’s Ambassador to India, Shuo Feihong, shared this information on the social media platform ‘X’. He confirmed that President Xi’s visit is a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations.
According to Ambassador Shuo, President Xi emphasized that China and Egypt exemplify friendship, unity, and mutual cooperation among developing countries. The two nations enjoy strong political trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, and close coordination on international platforms.
During this visit, President Xi will discuss various areas of collaboration between China and Egypt, as well as international and regional issues of shared interest with President Sisi. Together, they aim to outline the future of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and add a new chapter to their friendship.
Additionally, President Xi’s proposed visit to the United States is scheduled for later this month. U.S. President Donald Trump has mentioned this upcoming meeting multiple times.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Basant indicated that discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to be a key topic during the meeting between President Trump and President Xi in Washington. He stressed the need for security measures and improved dialogue between the world’s two leading AI powers.
Basant noted that limited discussions on AI took place during the G20 finance ministers’ meeting in Asheville, as the designated officials from Beijing were not present. However, some limited conversations did occur.
He further described the upcoming meeting between Trump and Xi as the right platform for more substantial discussions. “I hope that when President Trump and Xi Jinping meet in Washington this September, the AI agenda will be part of the conversation,” he stated.
