Beijing, September 3: Chinese President Xi Jinping has officially commenced his state visit to Egypt, arriving in Cairo on the night of September 1, following an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, received a warm welcome from the Sisi couple.
In a written address, Xi conveyed greetings and best wishes from the Chinese government and people to the Egyptian government and its citizens.
He emphasized that both China and Egypt are ancient civilizations, with a traditional friendship that has endured for thousands of years. Despite changes in the international and regional landscape over the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both nations have consistently collaborated closely. In recent years, under the guidance of President Sisi and myself, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt has seen significant development.
During this visit, I will engage in in-depth discussions with President Sisi on bilateral relations, comprehensive cooperation between our two countries, and mutual concerns regarding international and regional issues. Together, we will outline the future development of our comprehensive strategic partnership and add a new chapter to China-Egypt friendship.
