New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, held at the Bharat Mandapam, reached its conclusion on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The venue was prepared with heightened security measures for the attending international guests.
The summit commenced on Saturday, where the participating BRICS nations collectively released the “New Delhi Declaration 2026.” This declaration emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution of international disputes through dialogue, consultation, and diplomatic efforts.
Concerns regarding escalating tensions in West Asia were also highlighted in the declaration, urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation. Notably, this marks the fourth time India has hosted the BRICS Summit.
During the summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the state of India-China relations. He stressed the need for both nations to prioritize the future of humanity and the welfare of their people. He advocated for strengthening BRICS cooperation and playing a constructive role in promoting global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, President Xi presented four key suggestions for the long-term and stable development of India-China relations.
First, he urged both countries to advance with an objective and balanced strategic understanding, emphasizing that India and China are partners, not rivals, and should see each other as opportunities for growth rather than threats.
Second, he called for achieving shared success through cooperation and partnership, advocating for enhanced friendly relations and mutually beneficial collaboration.
Third, Xi emphasized the need to overcome obstacles based on mutual respect and understanding. He suggested that bilateral relations and border-related issues should be advanced in parallel while maintaining peace and stability in border areas.
Lastly, he encouraged fostering multilateral cooperation, urging India and China to support each other in BRICS leadership and enhance collaboration on platforms like the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and G-20.
