New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : A special team from the Mansarovar Park police station in New Delhi has arrested two notorious snatchers along with a man who purchased stolen goods. Authorities recovered the motorcycle used in the crime. The main suspect, identified as Vikas, also known as “Puchhi,” has over 17 previous criminal cases against him.
The police received information about a snatching incident on September 9. The victim, Guddi Devi, reported that she was riding a motorcycle with her nephew when two men on a Splendor motorcycle approached them near the Durga Puri flyover. The man seated at the back snatched a gold earring from her left ear and fled towards Durga Puri. A case was registered on September 10, prompting an investigation.
During the inquiry, police examined the crime scene and created a site plan. They analyzed CCTV footage, which provided clear images of the assailant and the motorcycle’s registration number. The motorcycle was traced back to its registered owner, Meenakshi, who revealed that her brother, Puneet, was using it. Puneet was subsequently arrested at his home, and the motorcycle was recovered based on his information.
During questioning, Puneet disclosed his collusion with Vikas, who was later apprehended at the Nand Nagri bus stand. Both suspects have been taken into custody, and the police obtained a one-day remand from the court.
Further investigation revealed that Puneet and Vikas sold the stolen gold earring to a man named Arjun near the Tahirpur Gurudwara for approximately 8,000 rupees. Police tracked down Arjun, who admitted to buying the earrings for that price and later selling them to an unknown individual in Nand Nagri’s B-block for about 10,500 rupees. Since the stolen items were no longer in his possession, Arjun was arrested following due legal process.
