New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : During the 18th BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s growing deep-tech and innovation ecosystem. He toured the ‘India Innovates Exposition’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi alongside leaders from BRICS nations.
Modi shared photos of the tour on social media platform X, stating, “Innovation from India, solutions for the world! I visited India Innovates with BRICS leaders. Proud of the energy and dedication of our youth.”
Among those who joined Modi were Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and other BRICS leaders, all of whom explored the exhibition together.
The India Innovates Exposition commenced on Friday at Bharat Mandapam, running for two days before the summit. The event showcased new and advanced technologies in India’s deep-tech sector.
Organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, this national initiative aims to promote innovations emerging from India’s higher education institutions on a global scale.
The initiative seeks to connect India’s innovation network with corporations, investors, incubators, universities, research institutes, governments, and Indian alumni abroad. Participants include startups, universities, labs, research parks, and other institutions, fostering long-term collaboration and partnerships.
The BRICS India Innovates (BBI) Exposition is the second major exhibition of India’s deep-tech startups in 2026. The first was held from June 14 to 16 in Nice, France.
This time, 37 Indian deep-tech startups are participating, selected from a pool of 120 that showcased their innovations in Nice. The exhibition aligns with India’s BRICS presidency theme of “Building Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration, and Sustainable Development.”
In the evening, a grand gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister Modi honored the BRICS leaders, attended by representatives from various countries, including Putin, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The evening featured a special vegan gala dinner designed to highlight India’s diverse culinary traditions while emphasizing environmental sustainability and responsible hospitality.
Additionally, a cultural presentation titled “Navrasa – A Universe of Shared Emotions” captivated attendees. Another highlight was the BRICS Symphony “One Rhythm, Many Cultures,” where musicians from BRICS and partner countries collaborated to deliver a performance that showcased the cultural diversity and unity of the BRICS family through various musical traditions and instruments.
