KC Venugopal Defends Congress Amidst FIRs Against Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi
KC Venugopal asserts Congress will continue its fight for democracy despite multiple FIRs against Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

New Delhi, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP KC Venugopal addressed the recent FIRs filed against party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during a session in the Lok Sabha. He emphasized that the party does not fear such legal actions and will persist in its efforts to defend democracy.
Speaking to the media, Venugopal stated, “Let them file thousands of FIRs. Who cares? We take immense pride in fighting to protect democracy in this country.” His remarks came as members of the India bloc gathered for a lunch organized by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, following a protest against the Election Commission.
The FIRs were registered after Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra allegedly attempted to enter Akashvani Bhawan during a protest march against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Tuesday.
Congress MP Pawan Khera dismissed concerns regarding the FIRs, declaring them a badge of honor for the party. “Are we afraid of FIRs? They symbolize respect. We are here to sign what the Election Commission requires,” he stated.
Additionally, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda reinforced the opposition’s commitment to safeguarding democracy and the Constitution. He noted, “We are not afraid of FIRs. They should have understood this by now.”
Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal criticized the Chief Election Commissioner, accusing him of lacking the courage to meet with opposition leaders. “You have seen his behavior; he did not even have the courage to meet us,” he remarked.
The Congress party remains resolute in its stance against the Election Commission and its commitment to democratic principles.
