Ranchi, June 14: Senior Congress leader Rajesh Thakur launched a verbal attack on the BJP during a discussion on various political issues on Sunday. He addressed the meeting of rebel TMC MPs in Delhi, the ongoing statements against Rahul Gandhi, the investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ram Temple, and comments related to talks with Pakistan made by RSS affiliates.
Thakur stated that the meeting of rebel TMC MPs is part of the BJP’s strategy to weaken the Trinamool Congress. He accused the BJP of persistently using central agencies to harass West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, and other TMC leaders.
He claimed that the BJP attempts to coerce leaders of opposition parties into joining their ranks. Those embroiled in corruption allegations are allegedly ‘cleaned’ by the BJP’s so-called ‘washing machine.’ This, he argued, is part of a conspiracy to destabilize Bengal, and the meeting of TMC MPs is a direct outcome of this situation.
Responding to the political statements directed at Rahul Gandhi, Thakur noted that both opposition and ruling party members have questioned Gandhi over time. However, many of his assertions have proven to be correct later on.
He emphasized that whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks, he does so with seriousness and responsibility. While some may agree with his statements and others may not, many of his points have been validated over time. Therefore, it is inappropriate to make such accusations against him.
Regarding the investigation into donations for the Ram Temple and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Thakur criticized the state government. He remarked that if there are complaints of irregularities in donations for the Ram Temple, it is a serious issue.
Thakur expressed concern that if thefts are occurring even in Lord Ram’s abode, it is deeply troubling. He urged the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the central government to take moral responsibility. Those who advocate for Ram Rajya should explain why such incidents are happening. He hopes that the actions of the SIT do not merely serve as a cover-up and that the investigation reaches the actual culprits.
In response to RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement about not completely closing the door on talks with Pakistan, Thakur remarked that various political statements have emerged on this issue. He noted that these individuals often engage in a form of political collusion. Such statements can hinder serious discussions on matters of national interest. The Congress ideology believes in the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, and we maintain that national interest should be paramount.
