Tragic Accident Claims Life of Young Man Under Ganesh Idol in Karnataka

A young man tragically died in Raichur, Karnataka, after being crushed by a Ganesh idol. Police are investigating the incident.

Raichur, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : A young man lost his life in a tragic accident involving a Ganesh idol in Raichur, Karnataka. The incident occurred early on September 11, 2026, when 23-year-old Prem Kumar was transporting the idol. Local police have registered a case and sent the body for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Prem Kumar was carrying the idol through the village of Attanoor in the Sirwar taluk when the idol came into contact with an electrical wire. Reports indicate that he had traveled to Hyderabad with friends two days prior to retrieve the statue. Around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, as they were returning, the large idol touched the wire, resulting in a shock that caused it to topple onto him, leading to his immediate death.

The body has been sent to RIMS Hospital in Raichur for a postmortem examination. The autopsy report will clarify whether the cause of death was due to electric shock or injuries sustained from the falling idol. The Sirwar police station is conducting an investigation into the incident.

This is not the first such tragedy; a similar accident occurred in August in Bhuleshwar, Mumbai, where a 22-foot Ganesh idol fell during transport, resulting in two deaths and several injuries.

The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is set to begin on September 14, with idols being placed in homes and public pandals across the region.
