New Delhi, August 22: Political tensions have escalated in Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, following student protests regarding the JPSC and JSSC examinations. The situation intensified when police resorted to baton charges against the demonstrators. In response, BJP MP and Jharkhand state president Aditya Prasad Sahu leveled serious allegations against the Hemant Soren government.
He stated, “Under the government’s protection, workers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha engaged in thuggery, beating students with sticks, resulting in injuries to hundreds across several districts. I believe the Jharkhand government and its workers are steeped in the arrogance of power and have initiated a troubling new tradition for the state. What will happen if workers from the opposition party also take to the streets with sticks?”
Sahu also targeted Rahul Gandhi, asserting that he would not speak on Jharkhand issues as the state government operates with Congress’s support. He remarked, “Rahul Gandhi and his family have taken the people of Jharkhand lightly. Previously, Congress attempted to buy the Jharkhand state movement, and now they are compromising our students’ futures. They are all complicit in this regime’s crimes.”
He urged Gandhi to visit Jharkhand instead of protesting in Delhi. “We repeatedly say that you should come to Jharkhand, talk to the students, engage with the Chief Minister, exert pressure on him, and recommend a CBI investigation,” he added.
Additionally, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev criticized the state government, noting, “Just yesterday, these students were praising the Chief Minister and wishing him a happy birthday. However, once they realized they had been deceived and raised their voices against the government, they were met with police brutality.”
