Mumbai, August 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹6,453 crores in Alwar, Rajasthan, on Sunday. This initiative includes the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi and crop insurance schemes, along with the distribution of appointment letters to 10,580 youths for government jobs.
While addressing a public gathering, Shah emphasized the significance of the land, recalling its historical importance as a refuge for the Pandavas from the Mahabharata era. He noted that today marks the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the Alwar Medical College will be named in his honor. Shah stated that Vajpayee will always be remembered for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which has benefited every village in the country.
Amit Shah highlighted Vajpayee’s lifelong dedication to nation-building and upliftment of the marginalized. On this occasion, a grand 21-foot statue of Vajpayee was unveiled in Nimbahera, Rajasthan, symbolizing his ideals of good governance, development, and prioritizing the nation.
He praised Vajpayee for never compromising on his principles, even under global pressure, as seen during India’s nuclear tests at Pokhran. Shah remarked that Vajpayee’s contributions as a journalist, poet, and Prime Minister were all aimed at advancing nationalism and national security.
Shah stated that the current government is fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s vision of knowledge, prioritizing the poor, youth, farmers, and women. He emphasized that to transform India into a fully developed nation by 2047, these groups must be empowered. The BJP government has initiated several projects, including the Kisan Samman Nidhi, a ₹500 crore dairy initiative for livestock owners, job opportunities for youth, and an extension of the Sarso Dairy program for women.
He announced the groundbreaking of a processing dairy plant capable of handling three lakh liters, with plans to increase capacity to five lakh liters in the future, providing support to impoverished livestock owners.
Additionally, Shah mentioned the establishment of four new dairy plants in Bhilwara, Jaipur, Pali, and Rajsamand, along with the launch of district banks in Falodi, Didwana, Balotara, and Pratapgarh. Farmers will now have access to loans at zero percent interest. He noted that ₹152 crores have been transferred through DBT under the Chief Minister’s scheme, alongside the foundation laying of 956 projects worth ₹6,453 crores, showcasing the effectiveness of a “double-engine government.”
Shah criticized the Congress party for its divisive politics, asserting that the people of Rajasthan have chosen the BJP government, and Congress’s influence is waning. He concluded by stating that under Modi’s leadership, the government has purchased the highest amount of grain at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and aims to enrich every village through cooperative initiatives.
