Raipur, February 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Sunday that no historian can deny the significant contribution of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to India’s national journey before and after independence.
Expressing gratitude towards the RSS, Shah remarked that there is no area in the country where RSS volunteers have not made a positive impact.
While addressing the 25th anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s formation, Shah emphasized that political parties and development should be driven by a strong and positive ideology. He contrasted the BJP’s development-oriented ideological approach with those he deemed destructive.
Shah asserted that Chhattisgarh’s development is linked to an ideological framework focused on social, economic, and infrastructural growth, rather than ideologies that promote conflict.
He highlighted that since independence, the contributions of RSS volunteers in various sectors of national life have been prominent across different institutions.
The Union Home Minister noted that in the past three decades, the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the UPA government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh oversaw the division of states.
He mentioned that during Vajpayee’s tenure, three new states—Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand from Bihar, and Uttarakhand from Uttar Pradesh—were formed peacefully and by consensus, all of which now contribute to the nation’s progress.
In contrast, during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure, the division of Andhra Pradesh was marked by protests, leading to the bill being passed while Andhra MPs were excluded from the Lok Sabha, resulting in prolonged controversy.
