Alwar Police ASI and Middleman Arrested Taking ₹1.3 Lakh Bribe

ASI Kanhaialal bribery case

Jaipur, October 15 (Daily Kiran): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kanhaiyalal of Kotwali Police Station, Alwar, and a private middleman Majlish Khan red-handed while accepting a ₹1,30,000 bribe.

According to Smita Srivastava, Director General of Police, ACB Rajasthan, the Alwar ACB unit had received a complaint alleging that ASI Kanhaiyalal, the investigating officer in a case registered at Kotwali Police Station, was demanding a ₹1.5 lakh bribe through his associate Majlish Khan in exchange for submitting a Final Report (FR) in favour of the complainant and presenting it before the court.

After verifying the complaint on October 14, the ACB confirmed that the accused, through his middleman, had demanded and agreed to accept ₹1.3 lakh for the same favour. Following this, a trap operation was organized under the supervision of DIG Rajesh Singh and led by Additional SP Mahendra Kumar, in charge of ACB Alwar First Unit.

During the operation conducted on October 15, the middleman Majlish Khan accepted the bribe amount of ₹1.3 lakh from the complainant in the presence of ASI Kanhaiyalal. Both accused were caught red-handed, and the bribe money was recovered from the drawer of Kanhaiyalal’s investigation desk at Kotwali Police Station, Alwar.

The accused have been detained, and further interrogation and investigation are underway. The ACB has registered a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and initiated further legal proceedings.
