
Guwahati, April 8: Preparations for the Assam Assembly elections, scheduled for Thursday, are in their final stages. Polling teams from Vishwanath and Hojai have already departed for their respective voting centers as of Wednesday. Amid the election atmosphere, the enthusiasm and sense of responsibility among the staff are clearly evident.
A polling staff member from Hojai expressed his joy, stating that this is his first experience of such kind, and he feels excited and rejuvenated. He mentioned that being on election duty is a matter of pride for him and represents a new experience.
Another polling worker noted that everyone is participating in the election duty simultaneously, which has strengthened the spirit of teamwork and cooperation. He emphasized that everyone is fully prepared to fulfill their responsibilities, making this experience particularly special for them.
From Hojai district, a polling staff member shared that their polling station number is 92, and their team consists of four members working together to ensure a successful election process.
A polling staff member from Nagaon urged voters to come early and participate in the voting process. “Cast your vote and exercise your right,” he said.
It is noteworthy that voting in Assam will take place in a single phase on Thursday. A total of 722 candidates are contesting for all 126 assembly seats in the state, including 211 from national parties, 116 from state-level parties, 137 from registered parties, and 258 independent candidates.
The Election Commission has ensured that all preparations are in place for a peaceful and fair voting process. The counting of votes will take place on May 4, the same day the election results will be announced.
Excitement is at its peak for this grand festival of democracy in Assam, with everyone’s eyes now focused on the voting and the results.
