
Washington, April 8: Sergio Gore, the U.S. Ambassador to India, met with President Donald Trump in Washington. The discussion focused on the future of relations between the two nations and global stability. Gore praised the President’s unwavering commitment to achieving global stability.
On social media platform X, Gore mentioned, “Had a wonderful dinner with President Trump. We discussed his steadfast commitment to global stability, his historic achievements during his presidency, the strong future of India-U.S. relations, and much more. It was a truly memorable evening, as history was being made before our eyes.”
This meeting occurred at a time when Trump announced a two-week delay on military action against Iran. Iran also indicated a willingness to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting a potential easing of tensions.
Additionally, Gore met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Luttonik. They discussed strengthening trade and investment pathways between India and the U.S. Gore stated, “We had a productive meeting on the India-U.S. commercial roadmap with Secretary Luttonik. We talked about a new MOU linking India’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to the U.S. tech ecosystem, India’s strong participation in the upcoming Select USA Summit, and increasing Indian pharma investments in the U.S. to boost competition and strengthen supply chains.”
In a separate statement, the U.S. Commerce Department noted that Luttonik and Gore are working together to advance the comprehensive trade framework between India and the U.S. The department posted on X that “we are working to open the market of 1.4 billion people to U.S. products and ensure over $500 billion in U.S. exports.”
Earlier in the day, Gore also met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance. Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Washington to advance cooperation in key areas between the two countries.
